Thanks to our experts in human genome and the medical field , the average life expectancy is increasing . Maybe we should worry about keeping our HKCSSST retirees ( already quite a few and ever increasing ) busy , e.g. by running a senior
citizens edition of Tai Lo ?

... the real cause of so-call "ageing" problem - people are forced to retire at 55 - 60, which is the prime of people with normal health...more

The current average life expectancy in HK for those at birth is 78+ for
men and 83+ for women....The variation in lifespan among individuals is more
due to different lifestyle practices eg smoking, exercise, eating habits,
etc. rather than fate or genetics. The message is: what we have achieved now
is more due to our own (and our forefathers' too)efforts rather than
"experts". And, for ourselves and our children, we need to pay attention to
all these instead of relying on medical advances...more

The concept of ageless society is very encouraging as people leaving their first job can still have a promising future. Is that possible? ..... How can we make this possible? I am interested to know.

Look at our teamates at the reunion, I feel that we are all acting exactly that: ageless. The point is how we feel. We cannot control (directly) our physical aspect, but we can control (to some degree) how we look at life.Basically, if, and when, we get old, we get old. But I seldom think about that. At anytime, we can focus on what one can do, and how one's ability, experience and skill can benefit others.

Aging is more a phenomenon of the mind than body, provided that we treat the body well.... a colleague at her 70s just enjoys working. She was put onto a new job but performed an excellent job. ...she knitted more than a dozen scarves for her favourite girls in the department saying that knitting will help with her arthritic hands.... the prescription given by an orthopaedic surgeon for my mother's arthritic hand is mah-jong, dosage : optional.

Some colleagues took up voluntary work after retirement, eg bush regeneration, hospital work or working with older people. They look so much younger and energetic. Recently, a University for Third Age was set up, another avenue for the older generation.

The Aus government is worried about looking after the exploding population of aging baby boomers. The burden on the diminishing younger population is only going to increase...more
